Hello, everyone, and welcome to my new digs!  About a week ago, I got the sad news from Blog-city that they are cashing in their chips.  The fact that I had to move impelled me to do what I should have done long ago, which is to say create a blog that fits professionally with my website.  Of course, I still find it hard to blog consistently about nothing but writing, so this will remain the eclectic playground of thinking and opining my blog has been since 2004.

Over the next few weeks I’ll be moving archived entries from Blog-city to here, but I think I’ll be fairly selective about what comes and what doesn’t.  Isn’t thinning things out one of the benefits of moving?  If we’ve been linked on Blog-city and you move, too, keep me updated on your new homes so we can stay connected.  (Why do I feel like launching into a rendition of “Anatevka” from Fiddler on the Roof?  Some of the lyrics are certainly apropos: “Intimate, obstinate, Anatevka…”)

When it comes to comments, don’t be shy.  Make yourself at home, put your feet on the coffee table.  We need to break the place in.

Welcome to your new home! I’m still figuring out where I’m going and will have to figure out how to move entries. Like you, assuming I migrate entries, I’ll be selective about it.

  2. I’m going to hang in at Blog-City until the end but in the meantime I’ll be scouting other options with the view to archiving my six years of blogs and photos into a website somewhat like yours. it will be relatively easy because I’ve backed up all my entries on an auxiliary hard drive and it will just be a case of uploading the ones I consider relevant.
I like the layout of your site and will probably try to duplicate the layout of my blog onto a personal website.

I have to admit, I’m not tech-savvy enough to do this. I had my website designer create the matching blog. She’s pretty terrific. I send her an incoherent babble about colors and mood and texture, and she comes up with something perfect.

You’re very artistic. I’m sure you’ll create something amazing.

I have two other blogs, at VOX and Blogger.com. All of the Blog City entries I wanted to save are either displayed or stored as drafts on my Blogger blog, but I use the VOX blog more, as it’s more of an interactive community. Plus, it’s free.

I’ll be pulling the plug on Blog City at the end of the month and you can find me at both VOX and Blogger, mostly VOX.

I’ve updated your link here so people go to the VOX blog. I like your look over there. For me, aside from paying my webdesigner to make it all pretty, this doesn’t cost anything more than I was already paying for my website, since the two are now attached.
